During the recent Jackson County Commission meeting, Commissioners discussed a revised Telmate master service (phone service for inmates) agreement.

County Attorney John Porter suggested that if Commissioners approved the agreement, it be approved contingent upon Telmate guaranteeing the delayed bonus that they had previously promised. Porter stated that final approval had not been received. Commissioner Tim Guffey made a motion to approve the agreement contingent upon the bonus.
A motion to approve the hiring committee’s recommendation for the vacant mapping clerk in the mapping and appraisal department was approved.
A motion to approve the hiring committee’s recommendation for the vacant recycle tech position in the sanitation department was also approved.
Carl Barnes from the Jackson County Park spoke to the Commission regarding a pavilion that was previously spoke about. Barnes stated that he has tried to reach the highest bidder and has had no luck. Barnes stated that the bid was contingent upon insurance and worker’s compensation, however, the bidder has not contacted him. Commissioner Mike Sisk stated that he would attempt to reach the highest bidder. Sisk stated that he had spoken to an employee of the bidder who indicated that they were running behind.
Guffey suggested that if the project is not started by the next work session, it be brought back to the table to be reconsidered.
