The Jackson County Board of Education will host Special Olympics on April 27.

This is a special day for students in Jackson County Schools.  The mission of the Special Olympics is to provide a variety of Olympic-type sports for children with disabilities. The children will demonstrate courage, experience joy, and develop skills and lasting friendships as they participate in many fun-filled events. The hope is to improve the lives of people with disabilities, and in turn, the lives of everyone they touch. The Special Olympics will be held at North Jackson School beginning at 9:00 AM. Chris Davis, Director of Special Programs says, " I want to thank our special education staff throughout the county for working so hard to make this event possible and our Superintendent and Board of Education for allowing us to conduct this event.  I would also like to thank our parents for supporting our teachers and programs in our schools. I would also like to thank everyone who provides financial support to make this event possible. Come out Friday and show your support of Jackson County’s Special Olympics. We look forward to seeing you there as we celebrate together our children in Jackson County."
