Clarence L. Bryant, age 87 of Scottsboro, passed away on August 18, 2017.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Grady Cornelison officiated.  Interment followed in the Pinehaven Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Bryant is survived by his wife, Bettye Bryant; son, Jackie L. (Nita) Bryant; grandchildren, Eric Bryant, Daniel (Cassie) Bryant; step grandchildren, Jennifer Lackey, Justin (Lauren) Lackey, Lauren (Tyler) Shankles; special sister-in-law, Gladys Shavers York; great grandchildren, Colton Bryant, Skye Bryant, Hunter Bryant, Leslie Bryant; several step great grandchildren; several step great, great grandchildren; as well as special friends and long time neighbors, Howard and Faye Beck.
Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Downs Ayers; mother-in-law, Vera Shavers Mize; two unique ministers, Rev. Richard L. Tyler and Rev. John McClendon, who each made and everlasting positive impact on his life.
Mr. Bryant was a U.S. Navy veteran, spending a short time aboard the USS Boxer, then serving as a helmsman aboard the USS Salisbury Sound. In addition to his service to his country, he was a dedicated member of Scottsboro Lighthouse Ministries. He also greatly enjoyed regular attendance to the Scottsboro Senior Center where he volunteered and formed many long time friendships. Mr. Bryant was a loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as a loyal employee throughout his long working career.
The last vow he pledged to his wife was, “I’ll be waiting at the port.” Bettye’s reply was, “Okay, it won’t be long. I’ll meet you there. See you at the house.”
