James Martin Maples, 73, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Thursday, August 15, 2019

. He was born March 6, 1946 in Scottsboro, Alabama. James was the son of James C. Maples and Rose (Houck) Maples.
James served in the Air Force from 1964 – 1968 during the Vietnam War. He worked at Flight Safety International for 25 years as a Corporate Jet pilot, FAA Examiner, and Flight and Simulator Instructor.
James was an avid elk hunter. He loved going elk hunting in the Flat Tops in Meeker, Colorado. He was a life member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Pheasants Forever, and North American Hunting Club. James loved planting a garden every year.
James is survived by his loving wife of almost 54 years, Billie Maples; daughter Alicia Ann Maples of Scottsboro; son William Carrington Maples of Toledo, Ohio; grandchildren Amanda Phillips, Jonathan Phillips, Amber Phillips of Scottsboro, Madisynn Maples of Toledo, Ohio; great grandchildren Tray Phillips, Tiya Phillips, Joshua Phillips, Kashton Phillips of Scottsboro; sister Rosalie (Maples) Denham of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and sister-in-laws Rachel (James) Turner, Peggy (Doug) Drews, and Elizabeth (Alan) Wayne.
