Mr. Mitchell Daniel (Dee) Carter, 83 of Scottsboro went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 21, 2019, surrounded by family.

Memorial services were held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Scottsboro Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Gary Swords officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Dee served in the U.S. Army for two years. He had a life-long career working with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #320 and was a member of Pine Island Baptist Church and Scottsboro Masonic Lodge #359.
Mr. Carter is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Bonnie Carter; sons, Mark (Angie) Carter, Mike Carter; grandchildren, Cassie (David) Merriman, Jessica (Rusty) Varner, Daniel (Sarah) Carter, Colby (Kristen) Gann, Heath Carter; great-grandchildren, Carly Whitehead, Isobel Merriman, Penelope Merriman, Elizabeth Merriman, Brock Varner, Aaden Varner, Cameron Dee Varner, Atchley Carter, Hudson Carter; many loving nieces, nephews and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Jackson and Cora Viola Carter; sisters, Sarah Allen, Lizzy Mae Garland, Corley Campbell, Louise Smith, Jane Cleveland; brothers, Bernice Carter, Claude Carter, Levis Carter, George “Junior” Carter.
