The Jackson County Board of Education and the Scottsboro Board of Education received their report cards from the State of Alabama last week.

The grades are based off of the following accountability indicators: Academic Achievement which is determined based on the percentage of proficient students in the areas  of reading and math; Academic Growth, determined based on individual students who demonstrate improvement in reading and math; Graduation rate, determined based on the percentage of high school students who graduate within four or five years of first entering the 9th grade; College and Career Readiness, determined based on the percentage of students in the four year cohort who meet at least one of the college and career ready indicators; and Chronic Absenteeism, based on the percentage of students having 15 or more absences in a given school year.
According to the report the Jackson County Board of Education received an overall grade of C. Of Jackson County’s 16 schools, Stevenson Middle School, Stevenson Elementary School, Paint Rock Valley  High School and North Jackson High School all received a score of D; Woodville High School, Rosalie Elementary, Hollywood Elementary School, Flat Rock Elementary, Bryant School and Bridgeport Middle School received a score of C. Bridgeport Elementary, Dutton Elementary, Macedonia School, Pisgah High School, Section High School and Skyline High School all scored a B.
Scottsboro City Board of Education received an overall grade of B. Thurston T. Nelson Elementary and Brownwood Elementary each received an A. Collins Intermediate and Scottsboro High School received a B.  Caldwell Elementary School and the Scottsboro Junior High each scored a C.
