A public hearing for re-zoning a portion of Goose Pond Island will be held Monday night at the Council Chamber in Scottsboro.
The zoning change would affect approximately 90 acres of property located around the old Scottsboro Aluminum plant. If approved the zoning will change from residential to light manufacturing.

The newly elected Jackson County Commission held their first official meeting Wednesday, November 12 to set up procedures for the next four years.
District I Commissioner Jack Smith made the motion to nominate District II Commissioner Jack Allen as elected vice chairman to preside over the board in the absence of Chairwoman Sadie Bias. Smith saying Allen had the most experience on the board.
Attorney John Porter will remain the county attorney.
The commission chose to keep the same meeting schedule of every second and fourth Monday at 4:30 p.m.
The commission also passed a resolution regarding TVA’s weed control. |

The Jackson County Farmers Federation will celebrate Farm-City Week Thursday, November 20 with a banquet at the Scottsboro-Goose Pond Civic Center.
Farm City Week is a time to remember the farmers and ranchers who provide food for us all. The week is dedicated to enhance the links between the farm families and urban residents.
The banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are free and may be obtained by contacting any board member of the Jackson County Farmers Federation.
The annual event is held the Thursday before Thanksgiving.

High County Automotive will host its annual Children’s Party on Saturday, December 20, 2008. The party is for children ages 1 through 12 whose families are in need of assistance during the holidays.
Due to limited capacity, you must contact High County before November 29 to register your child. Call 256-259-1159 and ask for Jane or William.
Steve and Pam Ayers have given a brighter Christmas to hundreds since beginning this outreach program 8 years ago and are happy the company is able to continue this service to the community. |
