Helping kids prepare for college

Many of this year’s high school graduates will be leaving home for a college campus in the fall. Such a departure is often bittersweet for kids and parents alike.


Helping college students choose the right major

Picking a college major is a big step for young students. Though many adults eventually find themselves working in fields that have little to do with their college majors, many more spend their entire careers in the same field they chose to major in way back in their college days.


Scottsboro Girl Scouts recently earned Girl Scout Bronze Award

Troop 160 members Nicole Culver, Tristian Culver, Gabbie Walden, Marissa Hymer, Julia Cox, Chloe Marousky, students at Scottsboro Junior High School, and Charlsi Henderson, student at Collins Intermediate School, recently earned the Girl Scout Bronze Award for their project Facing and Overcoming Adversity.

During extremely hot and humid weather the body’s ability to cool itself is affected.


FSA holds County Committee Election Information Meeting

Donald Mann, County Executive Director, for USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA), in Jackson County, reminds farmers and landowners that FSA is hosting an informational meeting regarding the 2014 County Committee Election process on Wednesday, July 16 at 10:00 a.m. at the Jackson County FSA Office.
