The Clarion - Greetings from We Care

Greetings from We Care, Inc. - 06/06/12

What a joyous meeting we had at Celebrate Recovery recently as Pops and Darlene renewed their wedding vows... for the fourth time, to a standing room only crowd. Pops and Darlene are regular attendees at CR and sit right up front in the “Amen Corner.”

I have started to write this column several times and each time I say too much. I will say this about that.  If I had typed that recent tacky column and waited until morning I probably would not have hit “send.” But I did and I was glad!

If your child has never done drugs you cannot imagine the pain and anguish being suffered by parents whose children have been caught up in this vicious cycle.

Parents, do not hang your head.  It happens in the best of homes to the best of parents.

Why are some people so full of hatred they would try to ruin someone’s reputation and cause an only child hundreds of miles away to nearly have a heart attack?

Why do people tell vicious lies to others to make them hate you?

DRUGS KILL.  How can I convince you young people that you are sitting on a time bomb if you are using illegal drugs.  You are killing yourselves one cell at a time.  Your brain cells are being eaten up;  your immune system is eroding and one day you will no longer be able to fight diseases like AIDS and CANCER.  I have witnessed people I love kill themselves.  It takes a while but eventually it is going to catch up with you and the people who love you will mourn even more than they are mourning now.
