Council explores ban on texting

The Scottsboro City Council is considering a ban on texting while driving.

During a recent Scottsboro City Council work session each member of the council were given ordinances from Huntsville, Madison, Decatur and Montgomery to consider.

“The passing of the bill is for the safety of everyone involved,” said Scottsboro City Mayor Melton Potter.

The council is also considering a distracted driving bill. “This bill is for more than just texting” said Potter, “it is for anything that is distracts a driver.”

The council is expected to make a decision in 2011.
