Cats win two on Saturday move record to 8-2

The Scottsboro Wildcats  picked up two wins on Saturday to move their record to 8-2 overall. Scottsboro defeated Sylvania 6-1, and then defeated Ramsay, 11-2.

“Our pitching has gotten better and we’re hitting enough to win, but we’re still leaving people on base, but we’ll keep working,” Scottsboro head coach Scott Dobbins said.

Craig Cleaver went the distance on the mound for Scottsboro against the Rams. He struck out five while only giving up four hits.

Justin Stern finished with two hits and a RBI, while Brock Phillips racked up three hits.

Jordan Wilbanks finished with 2 RBI while Josh Guffey and Taylor Bone each had a hit.

Against Ramsay, Dylan Rice got the win for the Wildcats. He struck out eight while only allowing four hits and two runs in five innings.

Bone pitched two scoreless, hitless innings in relief. He struck out one batter.

Giacomo Della Rosa finished with 2 RBI while Stern, Trey Lewis, and Bone each finished with two hits.

Brooks Fossett had a double while Rice, Guffey, and Collin Warren each had a RBI in the win.

Scottsboro has won its last seven games.

Prior to Saturday’s wins, the Wildcats defeated county rival North Jackson 2-1 and 4-3 in a double header last Tuesday.

“We’ve played pretty well the last two weeks,” Dobbins said. “Hopefully we’ll continue to get better.”

Scottsboro will host Ider on Thursday and Plainview on Friday.

The Wildcats will host area rival, Fort Payne next Tuesday and then Travel to Fort Payne on Thursday.
