Cats sack Columbia in Jamboree

The Scottsboro Wildcats got their first taste of game action last Thursday night in a preseason jamboree against Columbia.

Fortunately for the Wildcats, their summer workouts and preseason practice culminated into a 21-14  win.

The Wildcats’ junior varsity played the first quarter and a half of the game and finished with shutout, 3-0. Dominick Hirsch converted a field goal to give the JV Wildcats the edge.

The varsity squad scored their first two touchdowns late in the second quarter.

Collin Warren scampered into the end zone on a 33-yard touchdown run to give the Wildcats’ their first touchdown of the season with 3:24 left in the half.

A few seconds later, Charlie Roberston scooped up a Columbia fumble and scored to give the Wildcats a two
touchdown lead.

The Wildcats saw their lead evaporate as Columbia came back to tie the game on two big plays.

Showing their resiliency, the Wildcats clawed their way back in the fourth quarter and punched in the final touchdown of the game with a 15-yard touchdown run by Carson Hutchins.

This  week, the Wildcats will begin regular season play against Huntsville.

The game is scheduled for  Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Alabama A&M University.
